What is a crypto DCA backtester and why use one?

A crypto DCA backtester replays a dollar cost averaging strategy against historical price data so you can see how the strategy would have performed before risking real capital. Instead of guessing whether weekly $100 buys into Bitcoin would have outperformed a single lump sum, you run the numbers, look at the equity curve, and see the answer. This tool runs entirely in your browser. No signup, no email gate, no backend.

How the EQ price gate works

The optional price drop trigger mode mirrors TradeArmor's EQ price gate. Instead of buying on every scheduled tick, the bot only buys when the current close is at least a configurable percent below the running average entry price of the open stack. The result is fewer, better timed buys and a lower average cost basis when the market is range bound or trending down. Switch the trigger mode toggle in card 2 to see the difference.

What the live TradeArmor engine adds

The backtester is faithful to the core mechanic, but the live TradeArmor engine adds signal integration (cava-signals BTC/USDC track record, optional TradingView webhook signals, AI generated boolean formulas), six exchange execution (Binance US, Coinbase, Bybit, OKX, Bitget, KuCoin), 24/7 monitoring on your own hardware, paper trading, tax reporting, and a real time dashboard. This tool is the DCA piece in isolation. The product is the rest of the operation.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the price data come from? Coinbase Exchange's public daily candles, refreshed periodically. Five years of daily bars per pair.

Can I share the result with a friend? Yes. Click "Copy shareable link" and the URL will encode every input. Open it in another tab and the form prefills.

Is this an actual prediction of future returns? No. Backtests have inherent limitations. They use hindsight, do not include slippage, fees, or exchange outages, and assume the price you saw is the price you got. Read the disclaimer below.

Can I add my own pair? Not yet. BTC, ETH, and SOL covered the most requested combinations. Email Ed if you need more.
