Why Fees Add Up
Every round trip is two taxable events for fees: the buy and the sell. At 0.1 percent per side, a $5,000 trade costs $10 to open and close. That looks small until a bot does it a hundred times, which is $1,000. If your average profit per trade is smaller than the round-trip fee, the strategy loses to fees even when it is right more often than not.
